In this household, we love Korean skin care brands and all of the top-notch Korean toners, face serums, and soothing moisturizers they have to offer. I’m not just saying that because I’m Korean—ask anyone who’s tried products from the country, and they’d probably agree. Korean brands are constantly researching new ingredients, coming up with sensitive skin-friendly yet efficacious products, and offering them at relatively affordable price points—including Korean face masks.
South Koreans have seen face masks as a “staple skin care item for well over fifteen years now,” shares founder of Peach & Lily Alicia Yoon. We can trace back our obsessions with sheet masks and “multi-masking,” the practice of using several masks on different parts of your face at the same time, to trends that began in Korea first. Because of the country’s longer history with face masks, its brands also have a much wider variety of formulas and mask variations, so there’s really something for everyone. And the best part is that you no longer have to hop on a 14-hour flight to get your hands on these masks—you can simply order them online now.
Our top picks for the best Korean face masks in 2025
The ELLE beauty team has tested dozens of Korean face masks over the years, so we have a pretty good idea of what to recommend. But to make sure, we also consulted experts and reviewed lots of customer feedback to present you with this guide to the 11 best Korean sheet masks to transform your complexion.
Pros
Cooling on the skin
Comes in two pieces for a flexible fit
Cons
May take some time to adhere to face
In case you haven’t heard, the hottest new celebrity-endorsed skin care treatment is the “salmon sperm facial.” Trust us, it’s not as weird as it sounds. This formula injects polydeoxyribonucleotides (PDRN) derived from salmon sperm into the skin to boost collagen production. One big catch: The facial will set you back hundreds of dollars. Still, this face mask allows you to apply salmon PDRN to moisturize and stimulate collagen topically, and also contains low-molecular collagen to instantly plump the skin. Whether you use it for three to four hours or overnight, don’t be surprised if you see a visible improvement in elasticity and the appearance of fine lines.
Key ingredients: Hydrolyzed collagen, niacinamide, salmon DNA (PDRN)
Size: 4 sheets
Amazon rating: 4.1/5 stars
An ELLE editor says: “Yes, you kind of look like a horror movie villain while you wear this mask, but don’t worry—once you take it off, you’ll unveil a soothed and deeply hydrated complexion. I haven’t worn it overnight yet, but I have used it during the day, and can only imagine how beautiful my skin would look after a couple of extra hours.”—Carol Lee, ELLE.com associate beauty e-commerce writer
Pros
Moisturizing
Cons
Will need to readjust to frequently to prevent sliding
Ginseng has been used and consumed in Korea for thousands of years for its health benefits, but the plant also has skin barrier-supporting powers. Sulwhasoo tapped into this when creating the beloved First Care Activating Serum VI; its face mask iteration contains a 21-day supply of the serum, providing a burst of glow-inducing hydration.
Key ingredient: Ginseng
Size: 5 sheets
Sulwhasoo rating: 4.5/5 stars
An ELLE editor says: “While my love for the First Care Activating Serum runs deep, I typically use it in tandem with other products to help calm and hydrate my skin. Familiar with its efficacy, applying it throughout the week has become a comforting habit rather than a deliberate choice. However, this mask is a 10-minute reminder of the serum’s wonders; powered by ginseng and other skin-loving herbs, my face drinks the solution up so I wake up with plumped, hydrated skin.”—Nerisha Penrose, ELLE.com beauty commerce editor

This variety pack of Tonymoly’s I’m Real Sheet Masks is a certified steal. Although each mask contains specialized ingredients that provide various benefits, all contain hydrating glycerin and soothing allantoin. Prepare for your skin to be smooth, moisturized, and happy.
Key ingredients: Glycerin, allantoin
Size: 10 sheets
Amazon rating: 4.7/5 stars
An ELLE editor says: “One of the last times I went to South Korea, it felt like there was a Tony Moly store everywhere I looked. I took the opportunity to grab as many of these sheet masks as I could carry. I used to apply one every single night, and my skin has probably never been as moisturized as it was during that time period. I’ve probably tried all of the different varieties they offer, and I’ve never disliked a single one of them.”—Carol Lee
Pros
Suitable for all skin types
Cons
Fit may not be perfect for some
Skin care TikTok has fallen head over heels for this mask, which shrinks pores, smoothes texture, and plumps the skin—like a real-life filter. You’ll know the serum has fully absorbed into the skin once the mask becomes transparent after about three hours, but you can also leave it on during your beauty sleep to wake up to nearly flawless skin. I was so concerned about the mask falling off as I tossed and turned in my sleep, but it somehow stayed glued to my face all night and protected my dry winter skin from the harsh air of my heater.
Key ingredient: Galactomyces ferment filtrate, niacinamide, hyaluronic acid
Size: 4 sheets
Amazon rating: 4.3/5 stars
An ELLE editor says: “Like any beauty obsessed 20-something, I spend a lot of time on TikTok looking up the trendiest new products and treatments. This mask flooded my timeline for weeks and after trying it, I can confirm that the hype is true. This mask felt slightly different than any sheet mask I’ve tried—the hydrogel texture feels cooling as the mask is applied, and I didn’t have to worry about the mask slipping as I slept. When I woke up the next morning, my skin felt hydrated and soft, and also I noticed how smooth and glowy it looked.”—Tasha Smith, ELLE beauty assistant

Our expert says: “I didn’t know I needed artichokes on my skin until I tried this mask. The formula is super hydrating and contains so much extra serum that I get to slather it not just on my neck and decolletage, but all over my body! I used this mask after I had a slight sunburn from surfing, which was so soothing to my skin. After a bit more research, I realized in addition to artichokes, it also contains allantoin, which calms the skin.”—Danielle James, beauty expert

Our expert says: “I don’t get Botox or fillers, so it’s important for me to keep my skin plumped and hydrated. On days when I need more than hyaluronic acid, or my skin is dehydrated from flying or dry weather, I reach for this mask. It has glycerin and peptides, which keep my skin smooth and supple. I wear it for about an hour, and when I take it off, any superficial fine lines are gone. If you’ve tried everything and just can’t seem to make sheet masks fit on your face, serum-soaked pads like this one may be the way to go. Mediheal’s Collagen Ampoule Pad has all of the moisturizing, soothing, and firming benefits of a collagen sheet mask, but they tend to be more comfortable, and it’s easier to adjust the fit. Korean women love using skin care pads to prep their skin before makeup application as well for a more hydrated and smoother finish.
Key ingredient: Collagen, milk protein, ceramides
Size: 100 pads
Amazon rating: 4.5/5 stars
An Amazon reviewer says: “I've been using the Mediheal Collagen Ampoule Pads for a month now, and obsessed is an understatement! These square cotton pads are packed with collagen and ceramide, and they leave my skin feeling so hydrated and dewy that it literally glows. Not only do they work perfectly as a quick toner, but I’ve also found they’re amazing for a mini mask right before makeup! I just leave them on my cheeks for a few minutes, and the boost in moisture makes my makeup go on so much smoother and last longer.”

This isn’t your typical clay mask. Although the formula does include kaolin clay to help wick away excess sebum from overwhelmed pores, it also won’t completely desiccate your skin, thanks to hydrating and calming honey. Other notable ingredients include makgeolli lees (the rice sediment left post-Korean rice wine fermentation) and rice bran powder, which brighten and gently slough away dead skin cells to reveal smooth, luminous skin.
Key ingredient: Rice powder, honey, makgeolli lees,
Size: 5.07 fl. oz.
Amazon rating: 4.6/5 stars
An Amazon reviewer says: “I am an absolute mask fiend. I’m constantly trying new ones and use them nearly every day. This one in particular has become my absolute favorite. Skin looking dry and dull? It brightens. Skin breaking out? It helps heal and tame problem areas. Skin red and irritated? It calms. Skin oily and peeling? It evens it out. I cannot rave enough about this mask. It is now my holy grail, and it’s so affordable I secretly want to gatekeep it.”

Physical exfoliators can be tricky—use one that’s too harsh, and it can do more harm than good by causing tiny injuries on the skin. However, this mask combines BHA and micro pieces of chestnut to create an unstoppable yet gentle duo that banishes unwanted sebum and dead skin cells. Plus, it also smells divine.
Key ingredients: Chestnut, BHA

What are your best sheet mask tips?
Michelle Shieh, the senior scientific communications manager for Amorepacific Americas R&I Center, recommends prepping the skin by cleansing to ensure maximum absorption. Before you open the mask, “gently massage it to evenly distribute the essence or serum throughout the mask,” she adds.
You can also massage, or as Yoon calls it, “sheet mask-age” your skin while you have the mask on. “Easy glide and no friction is the perfect opportunity for facial massage moves, and massaging can help the sheet mask essence absorb that much better,” she says. Additionally, Yoon likes to “sheet mask sandwich” or pat in a serum before the mask dries completely. “Then place the sheet mask back over the face and the damp skin will help the serum sink in more,” she explains.
What are some common mistakes you see people make when using sheet masks?
If you don’t use them correctly, sheet masks can actually dry out your skin instead of moisturizing it. For example, Yoon warns against leaving them on for too long. “If you’re using a sheet mask made out of cotton or tencel or any other cotton-like material that gets dry, be sure to remove the sheet mask before it's fully dry. If it’s fully dried down, the dry sheet can cause reverse osmosis and pull hydration back out of skin,” she explains.
You also need to remember to apply a moisturizer after you take a sheet mask off. “Most sheet masks contain serum or essence type formulas which are lighter in texture and contain more humectant ingredients that help draw water into the skin. It’s important to add on a moisturizer or cream after with more emollient ingredients to help seal in the hydration!” Shieh says.
